I think it's inevitable every mother says these five magic words at least once and for some more often. Unfortunately I didn't realize what was being done till said eye had already been shot at. Here is the culprit.
I still don't know that I understand the complete story but it happened something like this. He got this thing as a prize at school (you flip them inside out and they snap back flying into the air) and was trying to get a birds eye view of how it worked (it seems he had tired of the other view). Jacob sat indian style on the floor and placed it on his legs with his head hanging over it and snap. Of course when you are trying to watch something you shouldn't blink or you miss the action. When it went off it snapped right into his unblinking eye. After the initial screaming we finally were able to get out of him what had happened. After about 5 minutes of hard crying he stopped long enough to make sure that it wasn't bleeding and we weren't planning on taking him to the hospital for stitches. A few minutes later he checked to make sure that it was still there. He continued to cry for awhile and it was watery and hard to open for a little longer. He is much better this morning, the only thing he has to show for it is a little swelling which is in both eyes so its from the crying and not the injury.
No he won't be getting a red rider b.b. gun anytime soon. Hopefully it will be at least another week or so before I have to warn stop playing with that, that way or "you'll shoot your eye out".
