Happy Turkey Day!!!

We were going to take the stuff to Grandma's house today so that the grandkids could all make these turkey's but grandma's sink in the kitchen broke a pipe.  So we decided that it would be better to make them and just take them to share.  So the boys put them together.  They wanted to watch the Charlie Brown thanksgiving special so I let them make them in the living room.  Shhh don't tell Craig.

They had a lot of fun but after the first few Zach did say that it was getting boring.  Now maybe he knows how I feel about cooking dinner over and over night after night.  It is a never ending process.

And this is a close up of some of the finished product.  I think that they did a great job and everyone enjoyed them.  I love you boys.  Happy thanksgiving to everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

This is what we have for the kids to make for fun tomorrow at thanksgiving dinner.  I went to the store today to pick the stuff up to make it and there are no longer any thanksgiving colored candies available.  So it is a christmas turkey.  Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow.

SNOW!!

We got snow last night.  And while it is very very pretty and makes it seem like christmas time it was also very wet and heavy.   There was a lot of damage.  Wasn't to bad at our house though we are grateful.  This is our big tree in the front yard.

We lost a few branches off of it and a couple off of one of the trees in the backyard.

We had to go out for gas for the snowblower though and I had to snap some pictures of some of the trees that we saw along the way.

Hope everyone survived and is warm and snug on this white winter day.

Award ceremony

I got a call from Jacob's teacher inviting me to the award ceremony at school today.  So I went thinking he was getting one and then Zach got called up.

Then Jacob got called up for his award.

And then Zach got called up again.

I was glad to get the chance to be there especially since they both received awards.  There were only four different awards given out one student from each class.  Between the two of them they walked away with three of the four different awards.  I think that is great considering the odds.  They are two great guys and we are so proud of them.

The cone of shame

The kids think it is funny to watch the dog get a bath.  They are convinced that he should learn to suck it up since we make them take a bath nightly and he goes months between baths.

He seems to have some sort of a skin allergy and it doesn't matter what kind of soap we use he ends up with a rash on his one paw and then he licks it raw, so this year to speed up the heeling process we decided to put a cone on him.  He hates it of course the boys think it is funny.  He runs into walls gets stuck behind objects and can't go up the stairs unless someone holds the cone up just high enough so that it doesn't bounce off of the stair in front of him.  Who would've known it would have been such an ordeal.  He also refuses to eat unless we take it off of him.  But his foot looks pretty good today and probably by tomorrow he can quit wearing his cone.

So I am putting away the halloween decorations today while the boys are at school and the house feels bare.  But I won't put christmas up until thanksgiving I know I would be sick of it way to early if I did.  But I do have to confess that I have been feeling christmassy now for a couple of weeks and I would love to put the decorations up.  Not because I want to ignore thanksgiving just because I love the decorations and the feelings that go with them.  But I am putting one up I pulled my absolute favorite decoration out and put it up on the table.  It usually goes on the mantle but you can't always see it as well so we will try the table this year and I will have to keep an eye on it after all the boys are still boys.

This is my favorite nativity.  I had a hard time getting a picture of it though it washed out in the wall in the background it is a little better in front of the clock.  Hope that everyone had a fun halloween celebration and hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.

Happy Thanksgiving.

And you thought I was going to say Merry Christmas.

Happy Holidays.
